Our Story

I call Maine home. I am a hiker. I am a fisherman. I am an artist. I enjoy boating. I love gardening. I enjoy watching the leaves turn color. I am a farmer. I am a hunter. I am an avid skier. I am a snowmobiler. I am an ice fisher. I care about my family and my community. I work hard to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. I am full of local knowledge. I prefer feeding my family food that I know the origin of. Unpronounceable additives and preservatives that take years off your life are not for me. My state is clean, and I like my food that way as well. It tastes better. There are a wider variety of choices grown locally; for example, sometimes I prefer a Dark Red Norland potato for dinner instead of a Russet. Variety is the spice of life. And I trust my neighbors who grow them. They know how to nourish the soil and produce the tastiest results. Plus, for every dollar I give my neighbors, $3 goes back into the community according to Oxfam. And I’m doing my part to keep our planet healthy. Maine is one of those special places that has been able to preserve its natural beauty, and I’m lucky to be able to enjoy food that comes from such a pristine place. Simple. Local. Flavorful. It’s they way life should be.

I’m glad to see more great information about the food produced in Maine. We’re fortunate to have such a wide variety produced in our state.
